Combating Food Insecurity
Feeding the hungry is a core value at every Kaima farm. Although the farms plan their crops carefully to match customer demand and keep waste to a minimum, they deliberately grow extra produce for neighbors who lack the means to provide for themselves. This practice reflects the ancient Jewish tradition of pe’ah, leaving the corners of one’s fields for the poor and the stranger. The produce is donated through the Feed My Neighbor initiative, which challenges assumptions about abundance in Israeli society and models the principles of tzedakah, empowering youth and adults alike as responsible citizens.
Kaima teaches this value to every farm it operates and every farm it trains, so that feeding the hungry becomes part of each farm’s practice.
Donations reach a wide range of recipients, including families led by single mothers, soup kitchens, nonprofit initiatives working with Holocaust survivors, residential programs for vulnerable youth, synagogue and church welfare programs, and food rescue organizations.
