Apiary Project

As natural pollinators, bees play a vital role in plant reproduction, healthy ecosystems, and food security. Their presence or absence is a strong indicator of local environmental health. Yet bee populations worldwide are under threat from habitat loss, pesticide use, and disease, making local efforts to support them increasingly important.  Israel has a fairly good track record given the commitment of small start-up initiatives scattered across the country.

Kaima’s 20-hive apiary encourages pollination, supports sustainable honey production, and provides beekeeping education for young people, community members, and other farmers. Working with bees teaches patience, focus, and respect for the natural world, giving young people hands-on responsibility for a living system that depends on their care.

The apiary integrates seamlessly with Kaima’s existing permaculture practices while generating new learning opportunities, community engagement, and revenue streams.
